The Cotton is blooming in the Lohn Valley

CONSTRUCTION TIME-LINE

April 2001 - Moved our family of 6 into the cabin

January 2003 - Finished first ad-on: laundry room

Summer 2003 - Began Construction on main house

December 2003 - Opened up wall between Laundry room
and main house

2004 - 2007 - Completed majority of interior, constructed
porches and carport, extended chimney

Jan - May 2008 - Put log siding up and rocked the front of
the house. Finished the decking under
the porch.

June 2008 - Hosted our oldest daughter's wedding and
reception at the ranch/house

Fall 2009 - Rocked underpinning on porch and built rock patio

Nov 2009 - Hosted reception for our second daughter's
reception at the house

My 365 Days Photo Journal

This 365 Day photo journal is inspired by others that I have seen. Mine will be about things I "see" every day, but I'm going to add a little twist and share pictures of our home - the construction to the finishes and even including the things that aren't done. To do that, I need to give you a little history.

For the history of the Cabin, click on the link below. That will help you understand where we are going now. A little more than ten years ago, Mike's parents suffered a severe car accident that required them to have full time care. Our family of six moved into the cabin (note: this was a 40' X 16", 3 room structure). Needless to say, we needed more room, which initiated the "journey" of building our house ourselves. We decided to tear down old buildings and build ours from the reclaimed lumber. We did buy some materials, like windows, doors, bolts, screws, nails and a little bit of lumber, but most of the house was built with "old stuff".
